SA responds hilariously to Tito Mboweni's flashback Friday pic

- Tito Mboweni once again left tweeps in stitches after he posted a throwback picture of himself on Twitter

- The picture incited many jokes about his taste in shoes

- One user likened his taste in shoes to his cooking style, saying that they were not his strong point

South African Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni is once again causing a ruckus on Twitter. This after he posted a picture of his younger self on to Twitter. The old picture was accompanied by a long inspirational message about his fights against the apartheid struggle.

"Young and ambitious! Convinced of a democratic, non-racial,non-sexist South Africa.Travelled throughout the length and breath of the UK Campaigning for sanctions against Apartheid SA! I still Keep the Faith! Not mafikazolo! Peacetime heroes!" he captioned the throwback.

While the tweet was meant to inspire, it rather became a source of jokes for locals. It racked up thousands of likes, retweets and comments from tweeps who can't seem to get enough of the Tito Mboweni jokes.

This is why when the opportunity availed itself, SA's first black president, Nelson Mandela, decided to have a banquet to honor the outstanding leader that is Fidel Castro.

The banquet took place on the 3rd of September, 1998. Not only did a Cuban army, led by Castro, take on the apartheid South African army, they also managed to defeat them. Not once but twice, the first defeat came in 1976 and then again in 1988.

A feat that still gives the white apartheid regime generals the chills. Since 1996 South Africa has been a beneficiary of Cuban medical internationalism. Between 1996 and 2002, more than 450 Cuban doctors and medical lecturers were deployed in South Africa and about a hundred South African students a year are trained in Cuba before finishing their studies in South Africa.
