Lionel Messi has returned to join his team-mates in Barcelona as he resumes training with the squad on Monday, September 7 after a dramatic two weeks at the club.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner stunned the world when he handed the Catalans his transfer request, with further reports that he already agreed personal terms with Premier League outfit Manchester City.

However, the Argentine was seen driving into the club’s training ground on Monday for the first time after the whole debacle - and will be training under new boss Ronald Koeman.

Lionel Messi became football's 2nd billionaire with £71m salary

And this is coming barely two weeks after the 33-year-old told new Barcelona handler Koeman that he no longer saw his future at the Nou Camp after the side's failure last term.

Last season, Barcelona had their worst campaign ever in a term in which the Catalans failed to win any trophy for the first time in twelve years.

They suffered an embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinal and consequently fired manager Quique Setién.

After being appointed as the new manager at Barcelona, Koeman decided to meet his wards to discuss how they will succeed as from next season with Messi telling him he is leaving.

The Argentine has however agreed to finish his remaining one year contract at Barcelona as the club insisted that their star man has a £629million buyout clause - and should he attempt to leave, the said amount must be paid.

The player’s father Jorge also waded into the whole saga, personally flying into Barcelona, to talk to the club chiefs including president Josep Bartomeu, however the club stated that the player’s clause is still existing.

Inter Milan, Manchester United and a few other clubs also showed interest in the Argentine who has now decided to commit another season to the Catalan club.

Meanwhile, earlier reported Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu, had a chilled weekend at home with her family.

Sisulu shared a video of herself playing soccer, in heels, with her family.

She posted the clip on her Twitter page and captioned it:

"It’s match day at our house too. Please don’t mind the heels, I did say drip is forever."

The video gathered over 201 700 views and South Africans had different reactions. While many commented on the family fun others could not help but notice her luxury backyard.
