Veteran actor Menzi Ngubane and other cast members of Family Secrets have revealed some of the behind-the-scenes drama on the new SABC1 drama series. The star-studded cast has not been compensated for their work on the new show.

The show made its debut on our small screens on Sunday, 6 September. Ngubane and former Generations (now defunct) cast members Sonia Mbele, Sophie Lichaba and Katlego Danke are some of the big stars who have worked on the new production.

They have revealed that they were not even aware that the programme would premiere this past Sunday. They reportedly said the series was shot a long time ago but they were still waiting to get paid for taking part on the show.

Unnamed sources have told the Daily Sun that the cast of the soapie is not even promoting it on their social media platforms because they were kept in the dark on the new developments.

Ngubane told the publication that due to "unforeseen circumstances" the shooting of Family Secrets had to be stopped. Sonia expressed that she could not comment because there's an ongoing legal matter.

SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo distanced the SABC from the drama between the actors and the producers of the show. She shared that it is not the national broadcaster's duty to pay actors.
