Maphorisa, AKA & many others rejoice at news of lockdown level 1

DJ Maphorisa is just one of the very many Mzansi artist who are rejoicing at the news of lockdown level one. Having not been able to perform for months, this news has come as a breath of fresh air. It is time to groove!

The coronavirus stopped all public gatherings from happening which put a lot of strain on performers. Not being able to perform live took a huge chunk of a lot of artist’s income away from them.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Maphorisa and many other artists are ready to get back on stage and are already announcing live performance dates. The show will go on, baba!

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that South Africa will be moving to alert Level 1 of the Covid-19 lockdown. Ramaphosa described this stage as the 'new normal' for as long as the nation is faced with the virus. This stage will come into effect on Sunday at midnight.

The restrictions on gatherings have been relaxed with a new limit, 50% of a venue's capacity, imposed. However, a limit of 250 people for indoors and 500 for outdoors has been set. While things are still limited, they are possible.

Briefly.co.za previously reported that many people in Mzansi cannot wait for the country to be officially opened so that they can go back to their normal lives. Some peeps have not been able to make money amid the government imposed lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mzansi has moved to the more relaxed level 2 lockdown but some people have been grooving like the government has lifted the lockdown. DJ Maphorisa is also a little confused. The musician took to social media on Wednesday, 16 September to ask tweeps if government has officially opened the country. The star tweeted:

"Is the country open? l’m a lil confused."
