Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung found some awesome designers through a search and has even been able to wear some of their outfits. Helping the youth catch a break is something Somizi strives to do.
It is not easy starting out as a young designer, especially in SA. So, when a celebrity like Somizi offers to help get your name out there, you do your best to produce work that you yourself didn’t even know you were capable of.
Briefly.co.za came across a post Somizi made where he is wearing a hella lush outfit made by one of the young designers he found. Designing for Somizi must be so fun as his taste definitely allows for the creative juices to flow.
Somizi took to social media back in June to announce that he would like to help worthy young SA designers get their names out there. The young designers had to submit ideas to Somizi and he sat going through them to find the few he thought deserved the help.
Taking to social media with a fabulous picture of himself wearing a larger-than-life yellow outfit, Somizi announced that this was one of the designs submitted to him during his search. Somizi shared the designer’s details and told Mzansi to hit him up!
“Here's the work by the first of ten fashion designing students I selected from the hundreds that submitted their sketches. I am so happy to introduce him to my world... Let's show some love and support.”
