The team's official home stadium is the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, referred to in Spanish as Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. It was named Estadio Real Madrid Club de Fútbol until 1955. It is located in Madrid in the district of Chamartin. It measures 105 by 68 metres.

Construction was completed in 1947, and it has been the team's home stadium ever since. It has a seating capacity of 81,044, but the current attendance record is 129,690 from a 1956 match between the home team and A.C. Milan.

It is currently being renovated through work that started in 2019 and is expected to end in 2022. The seating capacity is expected to remain the same, but the following features are in the expansion plans:

  • A retractable roof to protect the pitch
  • A permanent or fixed roof to protect the seating areas
  • A 360° scoreboard
  • New towers with ramps, escalators and lifts to make the movement of fans through the structure easier
  • Ten functional above-ground (from the previous three) and three underground floors
  • The museum will be expanded and fitted with virtual-reality features
  • Improved shopping experience within the stadium through the opening of 2 club-focused stores in the structure
