Orlando Pirates FC has taken to social media to unveil their new home and away kits. The soccer team collaborated with the world-renowned brand, Adidas to show off an all-new kit and badge.
The team unveiled the new kits early this morning after previously promoting the release on their social media. According to the club's website, the biggest change is the replacement of the traditional badge with a skull and crossbones.
The kits left behind some tradition for the 2020/21 season as both jerseys received a more modern update. The bright orange of the away kit is a bold move from the Buccaneers and fans have taken to social media to liken it to a few peculiar things.
As mentioned above, fans have been likening the kit to many different things. Briefly.co.za compiled a few of the top reactions to the soccer team's new kit.
"Punishment for not winning a trophy for 8 seasons in succession was to take the star back. Vele, anyway it's a fit punishment."
"Can chiefs fans gather around here and laugh at Orlando Pirates new jersey? The jersey (Adidas) looks fake, especially the orange one, it will attract bees."
"I was taken aback by the normal crest being moved to the bottom. But I understand the inspiration. I love it. I’m getting the orange one. Every international team goes out of the box with the away jersey. #orlandopirates"
In similar news, Briefly.co.za previously reported on Kaizer Chiefs showing off their new kits. Kaizer Chiefs have shown off their new kits on Twitter recently. The soccer team collaborated with world-renowned brand - Nike.
The kits were leaked on social media beforehand but the colours have now been confirmed for the 2020/21 season. This is not the first change Chiefs have made, most recently they announced Gavin Hunt as head coach.
They really seem to be pushing for a new beginning. They captioned the images of the new home and away kits:
"The new 2020/21 kits. Allow the spirit of the lion to awaken in you with our new home jersey. Let us also walk into the future with our electric blue away jersey."
