- A truck driver has died in what paramedics described as a freak accident in Pinetown, west of Durban, on Monday night
- Leon Fourie of Life Response said the accident involved a truck that collided into four other vehicles
- Only the truck driver lost his life and not a single other person was injured
A truck driver has died in a horrific freak accident that took place in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) yesterday. Paramedics could not put into words the nature of the accident but have labelled it a freak accident.
Leon Fourie of Life Response said the accident took place at the intersection of East and Stapleton roads in Pinetown KZN. Four cars were smashed into by a truck that was abandoned by the driver.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Fourie explained what happened, outlining that the truck driver just abandoned his truck which sent it flying into four other vehicles.
"The driver of the truck got out of his truck and was speaking to Metro Police when he got back in and tried to reverse his truck. He jumped out of his truck and the truck gained momentum going down Stapleton Road, pushing the cars with it.”
The driver tried to chase his truck and ended up getting in-between the crash which resulted in him losing his life, as reported by Sunday Times.
Luckily, none of the drivers or passengers of the four vehicles that the truck hit were injured - it was only the truck driver who was injured and lost his life.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Polo drivers are always receiving flack online in Mzansi and this new viral video is no different. In a video uploaded to Twitter, a driver of a new Polo can be seen taking their car out of the lot at the dealership.
The driver seems to know what they are doing until they crash into the wall on the outside the dealership. The video was uploaded by @JnzBeats earlier today and has since garnered 14 000 views. The video is a compilation of a video taken by an onlooker and security footage from a different angle. In the first half of the video, it is unclear what happens to the vehicle as the onlooker moved the video camera.
When the angle switches to the security footage, the car can be seen swerving before hitting the wall and flipping onto its roof. It's quite a devastating incident.
