Pitso Mosimane reportedly set to earn R54m a year with Al Ahly

It's been reported that Pitso Mosimane has been offered a salary of around R54 million from Egyptian club, Al Ahly. Mosimane recently resigned from his position as coach for Mamelodi Sundowns and confirmed his commencement with a new club on 2 October.

Although Mosimane did not reveal the name of the club he will begin working for, it is understood that he would be joining Al Ahly. The 56-year-old won his fifth SA championship through Sundowns last month.

According to reports, Mosimane was approached by the Egyptian club after Sundowns' won their 10th Premiership title. It's also been reported that Mosimane would be the first black African to coach Al Ahly.

KickOff reported that Al Ahly may have produced an offer of about $270 000 (R4.5-million) per month, excluding win bonuses, to Mosimane. This staggering offer makes Mosimane one of the most expensive SA sports exports ever.

Goal.com reported that Mosimane is set to be unveiled as the teams new head coach this weekend.

Staying with soccer news, Briefly.co.za recently reported on Pitso Mosimane dumping Mamelodi Sundowns to join Al Ahly. Pitso Mosimane has reportedly resigned as the Mamelodi Sundowns coach to join a large north African team.

On Wednesday, news broke that Mosimane stepped down as the Brazilians' coach only weeks after winning yet another South African championship. Mosimane will replace Rene Weiler as Al Ahly's next head coach.

Mosimane currently has a four year deal with the Sundowns and it is unclear how the Brazilians and the Egyptian team will handle the negations. News of Mosimane resigning spread like wildfire and South African soccer fans flooded social media with their views. Some were sad to see Mosimane go while others said he won every possible tournament in SA and needs a new challenge.
