US rapper Cardi B has weighed in on President Donald Trump contracting the novel coronavirus. The Bodak Yellow hitmaker has been very vocal about her political stance against Trump and could not resist adding her comment to the shocking news.
Taking to Twitter, Cardi B posted:
"BET YOU WANNA wear a mask now."
Her comment stems from the fact that Trump had initially refused to wear a mask during the beginning of the pandemic. Social media users had mixed reactions to Cardi B's words. Here are some of the reactions that Briefly.co.za sighted:
"Hateful and disgusting laughing at something like this. Hypocrisy at its finest."
"Drag that Covid-positive boy. @JoeBiden is winning."
"It could result in Pence replacing Trump, winning the election & carrying on with the same policies that the Trump administration have carried out and plan to do in the future."
"He didn't buy a mask, now time to buy a casket."
"I hope he needs a ventilator but they're all in use."
Briefly.co.za had earlier reported that President of the United States of America Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have both tested positive for Covid-19. Trump made the announcement on Friday, October 2, just hours after it was reported that one of his senior aides, identified as Hope Hicks, had contracted the virus.
Taking to his Twitter account to make the announcement, the head of state said he and his wife would start quarantine immediately and that they would do it together. President Trump tweeted:
"Tonight, @FLOTUS [the first lady] and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this together!”
The news was also confirmed in a memorandum by White House physician, Sean Conley early on Friday morning.
"This evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus," he wrote. "The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain home at the White House during their convalescence," Conley added.
