Brazil international Alex Telles has completed a four-year move to Manchester United from Porto on transfer deadline day. The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils in a deal valued around £15.4 million as he becomes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's second signing this window.

His contract with the Premier League outfit will expire in the summer of 2024 but they have an option to extend in his deal.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that United almost gave up on their chase for the left-back after their initial offer was said to have been rejected with the Portuguese outfit insisting on selling him for £22.5m.

The Old Trafford outfit has however confirmed the deal on their official website, welcoming the Brazilian star with European experience to their fold.

Telles scored 26 goals and registered more than 50 assists in 195 appearances in the last five seasons for Porto. He has also clinched League titles in Portugal, and also in Turkey while representing Galatasaray, and he said while reacting to his recent move to England:

"To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour. You have to work hard to get to this moment in your career and now I am coming to this club, I can promise that I will give everything in my heart to be a success here.
“I won many trophies at FC Porto and I want to continue that at United. The manager has a clear plan and direction for this team and I can’t wait to pull on the famous shirt.”

“First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United. He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for. He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.
“Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United.”
