One of Mzansi's favourite stars will be hosting one of Mzansi's most famous events. Nomzamo Mbatha has been officially announced as the host for the finale of the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant.
The event is scheduled to be broadcast live from Table Bay in Cape Town on 24 October. MNet and MzansiMagic will televise the finale live and it will also be streamed internationally.
Loyal fans have been waiting for this kind of news since Mbatha moved over to Los Angeles, but Nomzamo clearly hasn't forgotten her roots. She will be taking over the hosting spot from Bonang Matheba, who had the gig in 2018 and 2019.
The event is said to be focused on empowering young women, which is something Nomzamo has been vocal about in her personal capacity as well as through her responsibilities as a UN ambassador.
The contestant who takes home first prize and the title of Miss SA will also be given endorsement deals and sponsorships in excess of R3 million.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Miss South Africa organisation, Stephanie Weil, said:
"We are passionate about celebrating young women and believe that Nomzamo, with all she has achieved, is a perfect fit to host the pageant and an inspiration to all."
And she's not the only one excited to see Nomzamo host the event. Tweeps posted their excitement at hearing the news too:
@lindokuhle0729: I'm looking forward to this day. It's going to be exciting"
@theerejoice :"She has very big shoes to fill. Congratulations Zamo."
