Johannesburg-based radio presenter, Bongani Bingwa, has stunned the nation with a recent tweet. The Radio 702 presenter shared an image of himself with his 81-year-old mother on Twitter recently and SA is in shock.
Bongani's mother looks nowhere near 80 and Saffa tweeps took to his replies section to ask if he made a typing error. Tweeps also asked him if she was in her 60s. Bongani's post had the intention of raising awareness of the isolation during the pandemic.
He started his tweet by saying: "One of the worst aspects of this pandemic is the isolation of the elderly. My mother is 81 and lives alone."
Take a look at Bongani's tweet below:
Here's what some tweeps had to say about Bongani's mother's age:
"Hayboo Bongani, 81? That beautiful young lady does not look 81 nje. You guys must please enjoy and may God save and spare her from this crazy pandemic. She has done a super wonderful job raising a star and an asset in this country. I'm proud of you my brother."
"Mommy is soo beautiful and fresh for an 81-year-old yhoo. Maybe she is 60 but you forgot. Enjoy guys and spoil her hlena."
"Give mom a hug from us... She looks not a day older than you bro."
In other news about age-defying elderly, Briefly.co.za recently reported on a grandson who gushed about his gogo who has 55 grandkids and 33 great-grandkids. Growing old and getting to see your children and grandchildren prosper is a luxury many people don't get to live through.
This is not the case for a local grandmother, who even gets to see her great-great-grandchildren. Rodney Owami shared a cute picture of his grandmother to Facebook group, #ImStaying. He said they do not know exactly how old she is exactly but that she is in her late 90s. Rodney captioned the image:
"This is my granny. She has 11 kids, 55 grandkids, 33 great-grandkids and 12 great-great-grandkids... She is in her late 90s, no one really knows the real age. It's because of her that I still wanna be a Stayer..."
