Jeff Bridges has announced that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma. The Hollywood heavyweight took to Twitter to reveal the tragic news to his fans and followers.

The actor is a fan-favourite and known for his scene-stealing roles when he's not even the lead in a film. True Grit, The Big Lebowski and Bad Times at the El Royale are among his most popular projects.

Bridges seemed in high spirits as he told tweeps he felt positive about the prognosis and that he was grateful for the support he had already received. The actor also took the opportunity to urge people to vote in the upcoming US presidential elections.

Lymphoma is a cancer that occurs in the body's lymphatic system. Jeff Bridges mentioned in his tweet that he was aware of the seriousness of the disease but that he had "a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good".
