Home affairs officials who allegedly issued Prophet Bushiri and his wife Mary with permanent residence have been suspended.

Bushiri and Mary are not South African citizens, they are citizens of Malawi. The couple were issued with notices that their application for permanent residence was incorrectly granted.

The couple received three notices to this effect with the final notice informing them that their permanent residence status was invalid.

Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi told ENCA that the officials had not been suspended for incorrectly granting the permanent residence but for other reasons.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Paseka "Mboro" Motsoeneng the leader of Incredible Happenings Church has come out and spoken about the allegations against Prophet Bushiri. Mboro says that he has to put an end to the evil powers from Shepherd Bushiri for the arrests to take place.

Bushiri and his wife Mary are facing charges of money laundering, theft, and fraud at the Pretoria Magistrates Court.

Mboro asked if he could baptise Bushiri and said that he should repent from stealing money from congregants who invested in his alleged money laundering scheme.

The two prophets have once faced each other in court after Bushiri brought forward a case of defamation against Mboro. Mboro has said that Bushiri has made a mockery of Christ by using religion to commit crime.

Mboro told eNCA during an interview: "This is a spiritual issue because you can't have one person alleging so many cases. Fraud, rape, theft, money laundering or killing of people. This person will go all out on television and make it clear that he harms people. Even his people can confirm that."

In other news, it has been a dramatic week for Shepherd Bushiri and his wife. Things came to a head this week as they appeared in court on a bail hearing.

His supporters gathered outside the court on Friday and threatened to pray for divine retribution against the magistrate while handing out photos of her.

The couple's bail application has been set back to Monday which means that they would have to spend the weekend in police custody.
