Samuel Tiyani Mabunda, the 32-year-old international footballer, is not letting a couple of fraud and money laundering charges change how he feels about Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

Mabunda shared a photo of himself with Bushiri on Twitter and gushed about his "father." He captioned the post:

"When I grow up, I wanna be like my father MAJOR 1. #istandwithmajor1"

Briefly.co.za previously reported it has been a dramatic week for Shepherd Bushiri and his wife. Things came to a head this week as they appeared in court on a bail hearing.

His supporters gathered outside the court on Friday and threatened to pray for divine retribution against the magistrate while handing out photos of her. The couple's bail application has been set back to Monday, which means that they would have to spend the weekend in police custody.

Bushiri's followers have taken their loyalty to the next level. Last week, a video was shared online showing his supporters hurling so-called 'holy water' at a Hawks vehicle.

Social media user, @TbixSa, posted the clip online and captioned it:

"Bushiri congregants using holy water to get rid of the Hawks. They are screaming FIRE! FIRE! at the Hawks car..."
