Newly-crowned Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida spoke about following in Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi's footsteps. Shudu said she doesn't feel any pressure as she sees her own face reflected in Zozi's.
Shudu went on to say that Zozi had opened doors for her and allowed her to take up her own space. She continued by saying that she was not concerned about being compared to Zozi as she felt awed to be following in Zozi's footsteps.
The 24-year-old Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics graduate spoke highly of the reigning Miss Universe. She was the favourite to win this year's pageant and also won the public vote.
According to IOL, Shudu said:
"I saw my own face reflected. Before that, I didn't realise that people who looked like me could compete and win on international stages."
Sunday Times reported that Shudu wants to focus on the "young girl child" this year with a focus on mental health and other aspects of life.
Briefly.co.za recently reported on Shudu after she was crowned Miss SA 2020. This was after the annual Miss South Africa pageant took place in Cape Town.
Shudu walked away with an astounding R3 million package in prizes. She hails from a village in Limpopo called Vhangani Village, which is outside Vuwani. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pretoria.
She is also beefing up her qualifications by studying towards a BA Honours in International Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Shudu took to social media after her astounding win. Shudufhadzo was quickly a hit with fans, especially on social media, during her journey to being crowned Miss South Africa. Many predicted that she would win the competition, which she ultimately did.
