Somizi Mhlongo has been faced with a roadblock he was not expecting. Season 2 of Dinner at Somizi’s has been put on hold due to the intellectual property theft saga.
The man who claims the idea was his, Hastings Moeng, is not backing down easily and has taken the matter further. As a result of this, Somizi and his crew have had to put Season 2 on hold until further notice.
According to Sowetan Live, there has been little to no progress with regard to sorting the matter out. Somizi, Legend and MultiChoice have apparently been served with letters of demands from Hastings' lawyers.
Sowetan Live claims to have seen the letters of demand and reported the following:
“Your client, MultiChoice, is requested to disclose, in good faith, if any agreements concluded pertaining to the cooking-talk show or is aiming to enter into any agreement thereof, and if our client will be included.
“MultiChoice is further requested, in good faith, to disclose the agreement entered into between the channel, Somizi and Legend, including the amount that had been paid to Somizi and Legend pertaining to Season 1.”
Time will only tell what the outcome will be and if or when Season 2 of Dinner at Somizi’s will go on. We are sure that Somizi and his crew will be updating on the matter so that fans know what to expect.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Somizi Mhlongo has finally come forward to address allegations claiming that Dinner at Somizi’s was a stolen idea. These are not small allegations and it was smart for Somizi to take his time to respond.
The entertainment world is tough. With so much content out there it is near to impossible to produce something that it totally original.
Somizi came out to address the issue on live TV. Being accused of intellectual property theft is not something that Somizi has taken lightly and that is also why he has taken his time to respond.
