Celebrated Jamaican Dancehall star Beenie Man was overcome by emotions during his mother's burial service on Sunday, October 25.
The musician is reported to have fainted at his mother's graveside in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, but denied claims that he had been hospitalised following the incident.
According to The Source, as the late Lilieth Sewell was being lowered into her grave, the singer was overwhelmed with emotions and fell.
In a video shared by @Tropixofficial on Twitter, four men could be seen carrying the unconscious Beenie as mourners screamed and others causing a fracas.
In a statement, the musician said he was so much involved in the planning that he was left with no strength on the final day.
He said he blacked out for a few minutes and saw his close friends and family later after gaining consciousness.
Beenie's mum reportedly suffered a stroke back in July 2020 and was hospitalised at the University Hospital of the West Indies. She is reported to have passed away in September a few weeks after being discharged from the hospital.
Reports indicate that the King of the Dancehall hitmaker promised to build a community centre in honour of his mother which will be located in his Waterhouse hometown. The centre will be named after Beenie's mother and grandfather.
In other sad news, Briefly.co.za earlier reported that the Kenyan thespian fraternity was in mourning following the sudden demise of former Vitimbi actor, Mohammed Tajiri, alias Mzee Makanyaga.
Mzee Makanyaga, also famed for his role on Vioja Mahakamani, died on Tuesday, October 27, afternoon.
According to sources intimate to Mzee Makanyaga, the legendary actor died at his home in Pumwani, Nairobi, following a long illness.
Briefly.co.za reached out to Vioja Mahakamani's Prosecutor who confirmed the demise. According to the Prosecutor, the actor died due to old age.
Prosecutor informed that Mzee Makanyaga was laid to rest on Wednesday, October 28 at 1pm at the Kariokoo Cemetery, according to his Islamic faith.
