Over the last week, there have been new developments in the murder case of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa who was murdered in 2014. A number of revelations have been made and according to a number of new detectives who have been assigned to the case, new evidence suggests that it was people close to Meyiwa who are responsible for his death.
According to the Sunday Times, the authorities have a "mastermind" on their sights. Incriminating social media messages have been found and now two people who were part of Meyiwa's "inner circle" are now believed to be behind his murder.
"There's good evidence which links people," according to detectives assigned to the case, Colonel Bongani Gininda and General Khehla Sitole.
The new team of detectives has proved that their intention was to get straight to business as earlier in the week, Mzansi saw five men appear as suspects for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa despite their protests of being innocent.
Some of the messages that were exchanged between the suspects have been shared on social media, opening the case up. Leaked cellphone records from the NPA also showed that Senzo's former girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo had been in contact with one of the suspects.
One of the cops who are involved in the case has said that they have "good evidence" to connect all these people together. The case seems to finally be coming to a head and might be solved soon.
In other news, Briefly.co.za previously reported that Kelly Khumalo finally speaks after developments in the Senzo Meyiwa case. Singer Kelly Khumalo has finally broken her silence after the latest developments in her late boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa's murder case. The case has been ongoing since his death in 2014.
Former EFF treasurer-general Magdalene Moonsamy gave a statement that expressed her law firm will be representing Kelly Khumalo in the matter from here on out.
