Tradition often states that before marrying a woman, the man should approach her dad and ask for her hand in marriage.
American celebrity Blake Shelton shook things up and decided to ask his fiancée Gwen Stefani’s three sons for permission before walking down the aisle with her.
According to a source speaking to People, the musician has played the role of a bonus dad to Gwen’s sons effortlessly.
He approached Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, a month back and asked them whether he could go ahead and pop the big question.
It was also stated that the whole proposal was set up as a surprise and Blake’s future in-laws are taken aback by his kindness and love for their girl.
“Her family very much approves of him. He is a great partner and a superb extra dad to the boys. Gwen is excited,” the source explained.
The 44-year-old wanted to scream the news at the top of his voice immediately when Gwen said yes but the two of them decided to wait a little longer. This is a moment Gwen and her beautiful family will cherish forever.
Later on, the musicians released statements on social media notifying their fans that they were finally set to tie the knot. Seeing these two together just makes sense - no one expected it but it is strangely perfect!
