Watching a community come together for the greater good of each other is simply delightful. A local South African community recently did exactly that and indeed those who heard the touching story of how they came together to help a young matriculant attend and enjoy his school trip, were left truly moved.
The story was first shared on Twitter by Nthabbie, but it quickly made its way to Facebook's ImStaying group by, Dumisani Dudoo Dabadini who thought that it was worth spreading just how wonderful having the spirit of Ubuntu can be.
In the Twitter thread, Nthabbie explains how she had spotted a familiar neighborhood gogo looking very stressed. Upon asking her what was wrong, the gogo explained how her grandson was headed on a school trip but didn't have most of the things he would need to enjoy the trip.
Moved by the granny's explanation, Thabbie quickly gave the boy R100, which was all she had on her. People around them who had heard the story, soon pitched in, providing the matriculant with snacks, spending money, toiletries, and even pajamas.
Stayers were truly moved by the heartwarming thread, heading to the comment section to share their thoughts on how the community was able to come together and make the boy's last school trip extra special.
In similar touching Briefly.co.za news, there's been an ongoing challenge during the festive season in SA where patrons tip their waiters 100%. Recently, Mthokozisi Future Dube shared an amazing tip left by a patron for him at his place of work.
The patron's bill amounted to R490, they doubled it up and gave the waiter R490 for his services. In total, they paid R980. Mthokozisi shared a picture of the bill to the #ImStaying group on Facebook and Stayers are loving it. He captioned the post:
"#I am staying because of the generosity, love and kindness rendered by people with a big heart and Soul... #Give your waiter a 100% tip this festive season challenge *2020*..."
