Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer has not left the club. The Bucs have not confirmed that Zinnbauer has left, they simply said he had returned to Germany due to a family crisis. However, they have not released a date for the return of the 50-year-old.
Zinnbauer was granted a leave of absence by Pirates for his family emergency. Zinnbauer hastily made his way back home after Pirates emphatic win over Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN 8 semi-final a few days ago.
Although many fans were confused about his absence, the club confirmed the reasoning for his return to Germany on various social media platforms.
A headline by eNCA caused confusion online with many believing that Zinnbauer had officially left the club. The news agency has since clarified that he has not left the club and released an apology to the club, fans and Zinnbauer.
The club last posted an update about Zinnbauer on 31 October. Out of respect for Zinnbauer, the club did not give out many details on the situation.
Previously, Briefly.co.za reported that there was still uncertainty surrounding Zinnbauers return. Floyd Mbele, Orlando Pirates' administrative manager, confirmed that the club had been aware of Zinnbauer's family crisis for over a week but there was still uncertainty on his return date.
Mbele added that Zinnbauer's return rests solely on him honouring his contract. In the meantime, assistant coach Fadlu Davids has been leading the Buccaneers. Davids took charge of the team when went up against Bloemfontein Celtic.
Luckily for Pirates, Sipesihle Ndlovu helped them secure their first DStv Premiership win. The 24-year-old scored a 78th-minute goal against Celtic at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Wednesday, 4 November.
This was Ndlovu's first goal in the Pirates jersey. The goal created a 1-0 winning difference between the two teams and pushed the Bucs to the top of the DStv Premiership log. Paseko Mako worked the Celtic defence before playing to Ndlovu allowing for him to score the winning goal.
