Joe Biden has, according to predictions, won Pennsylvania and the election after amassing 273 of the 270 electoral votes needed.

The election took place on Tuesday, 3 November and has vote counting has been delayed due to mail-in ballots and the enormous amount of people who voted.

The race was down to the wire, with a few key states still counting votes, with the margins so narrow, no clear winner could be decided.

According to the BBC Joe Biden has won the hotly contested state of Pennsylvania, the key to the election and has secured the necessary electoral votes.

However, the election is not over and there may be months ahead before the decision is official due to recounts and challenges to the voting process. The official results will only be revealed on the 14 of December barring any further delays.

NBC has also predicted that Joe Biden has won the election after securing Pennsylvania and the election.

The Trump camp has not accepted defeat and Donald Trump has claimed massive voter fraud but has not been able to supply any evidence to support these claims.

Biden has tweeted out a message of thanks to his supporters.

"America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country."
"The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not."

Democrats and Biden supporters around the world are ecstatic over the win and are confident that the predicted result will not change come December.

Before the prediction was announced Donald Trump tweeted that he had won the election, "by a lot".

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his claims that massive voter fraud has taken place in the elections.

He has sent out a barrage of tweets in which he alleges that thousands of illegal votes were submitted after the deadline on the day of the election in Pennsylvania resulting in the majority shifting to the democrats.

Trump goes further and claims that the votes were counted in secret with republicans being able to observe the process.

In other news, US President Donald Trump insists he will not back down or concede the election, regardless of Joe Biden reaching 270 electoral votes. According to reports by CNN Trump maintains that he is going to fight and he believes that there has been voter fraud when coming to the counting of the ballots.

A statement released by Trump's team said: "This is no longer about any single election. This is about the integrity of our entire election process."

Trump has said that he will do whatever it takes to remain in charge at the White House.
