In his moving speech, the commentator said Biden and Kamala Harris' win was a vindication for the many people who really suffered under Trump's regime.

"You know, the I Can't Breathe [campaign], that was not just George Floyd, that's a lot of people who couldn't breathe. This is a big deal for us to just get some peace and have a chance for a reset because the character of our country matters," he said with tears flowing down his face.

As was reported, Biden's win in Pennsylvania ensured he surpassed the magic 270 Electoral College votes that determine who is elected the president in the US regardless of the popular votes.

Soon after he was announced the winner, Biden gave a statement on his Twitter page saying he was honoured as he promised to be a president of all Americans.

On her part, Kamala said there was a lot of work for the duo ahead promising to get started as soon as possible.

The official result will be declared on December 14 after final voting, but Biden is the projected winner. Biden will in the process become the oldest president when he will be inaugurated in January 2021.

Briefly.co.za previously reported that the US president-elect, Joe Biden, is full of gratitude to the American people for choosing him to be their next leader.

Biden, who served as the 47th vice president of the United States under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017, thanked all Americans from the bottom of his heart. In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle, he called on everyone to join hands with him in making America great again.
