Mzansi rapper AKA recently joined Ebro Darden on The Ebro Show on Apple Music to chat about his new concept EP titled Bhovamania and his rivalry and upcoming boxing match with fellow South African rapper Cassper Nyovest. Since the star dropped the project on Friday, 6 November he has been embroiled in a nasty twar with Mufasa's fans.
The 13-track project features songs such as Heavy Drank, Casino, Python, Mufasa and Monuments, among others. Supa Mega worked with the likes of Sho Madjozi, K.O, Yanga Chief, Gemini Major and L-Tido, among others, on his latest offering.
Mega sat down with Ebro to chat about the new project. Briefly.co.za takes a look at four key points that AKA and Ebro discussed on the latest episode of The Ebro Show.
1. AKA tells Ebro about the name of his new EP
"I’m calling it an EP even though it’s album-length, because it’s all centered around a concept, an aesthetic, and it’s the first time I’ve done it this way. And you know I’m a big wrestling fan, so even the aesthetics of Hulkamania, Wrestlemania, all that stuff."
2. AKA speaks about his upcoming boxing match with Cassper Nyovest
"I always want to try to challenge myself to do new things, and to become a boxer takes a lot of discipline. It’s akin to running the New York Marathon. And the best part about it for me is whoever loses needs to shut the f**k up for life. And that’s not gonna be me."
3. AKA tells Apple Music about his rivalry with Cassper
"At the end of the day, this is hip hop. This is rap. It’s not kindergarten. It’s a contact sport and these things happen. I will guarantee you, I don’t spend my times wandering around wondering what the f**k is going on over on that side. Things have been said and things have been done. So the f**k what?"
4. AKA tells Ebro about his support of the #EndSARS Movement in Nigeria
"We are all bound as Africans. That’s intrinsic in all Africans, is to see when your brother or sister is being oppressed, you use your voice and your platform. Even in South Africa we have our own police brutality. You can link all African people together with those types of experiences."
In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that AKA has had enough of Cassper Nyovest's fans trolling his new EP titled Bhovamania. Mufasa's Tsibipians have been on Supa Mega's case ever since he dropped the project last Friday, 6 November.
The Fela In Versace hitmaker took to Twitter on Monday, 9 November to tell some of Cass' fans where to get off. The rapper told a troll that he was on Twitter to interact with his followers not the guys "from the other side". He then hit two birds with one stone when he took a shot at Cassper and the troll.
"Can I just ask a question. Why are you guys from the other side so invested in me? Right now I’m lit from the club tryna interact with my Megacy... here you are at 03:55 while your guy is sleeping peacefully or probably burping his newborn child. It’s pathetic dude. Seriously."
Another tweep criticised Mega for not being good at sampling. The musician also came back with a spicy clap back. AKA responded:
"Pah. Don’t you have a girlfriend or something who needs your attention right now? Mina I’m in Cape Town and my woman is at home. Wena?"
AKA also reminded the trolls about the time they called his Levels and Touch My Blood projects "trash" when he dropped them back in 2014 and 2018.
"When we dropped LEVELS they called it trash. TMB? Trash. Be Careful What You Wish For? Trash. 'This project doesn’t make sense' ... remember? Lol."
AKA's Megacy also jumped in and defended their fave.
