Prison Break main actor Wentworth Miller, better known as Michael Scofield, is done and dusted with the action series.

The Hollywood celebrity further destroyed hopes for a sixth season after announcing he was done playing the role of a straight man.

In a detailed Instagram statement, Miller said stories of straight men had been told numerous times and it was tiring for him.

He noted that he had been bullied, trolled and called out way too many times on social media but that was not going to shake him.

The actor added that his experiences on Instagram did not inform his sudden decision to quit the series.

Miller claimed he was officially going to switch off comments on his post and block anyone who would attempt to bring negativity his way.

“Not because of static on social media (although that has centred the issue). I just do not want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told),” he wrote.

The Prison Break actor admitted he knew a lot of fans were going to be disappointed by his actions and for that, he was sorry.

“So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I am sorry,” Miller added.

After some of the main cast members began leaving, rumours grew that the show's days were numbered. According to the Daily Sun, the fat lady has sung. The soapie has been struggling with viewership in recent months as people stopped tuning in.

The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa recently revealed that newcomer Gomora is the most-watched show, followed by The Queen. Isibaya is nowhere near the top three, recording about 800K viewers. A source told the publication that the show was not renewed because it did not make a return on its investment.
