Rapper Costa Titch has surpassed 2 million streams of his brand-new album Made In Africa. Although the project was marred in a bit of controversy over allegations of cutural appropriation, it still remains one of the most successful to come out this year.
The project includes the likes of AKA, Sjava, Phantom Steeze, Riky Rick, DJ Maphorisa, Tshego, Rouge, Boity, 25K, Frank Casino, YoungstaCPT and Loke. It has been streamed a total of 2.5 million times. What a wow!
Two million streams are distributed equally between Apple Music and YouTube while the remaining 500 000 came from Spotify.
Another rapper that is celebrating an achievement is AKA. Briefly.co.za earlier reported that AKA recently took to social media to share that his single titled Energy has now reached gold status.
Supa Mega shared a a screenshot of a direct message he received from Nota Baloyi telling him that Energy has gone gold. The Fela In Versace hitmaker took to Twitter to share the news with his fans even though Nota told him not to share the news yet.
AKA dropped the single in May this year along with Monuments and Cross My Heart. AKA ignored Nota's instructions and posted the screenshot on Twitter. He captioned it: "God is great." Mzansi Hip-hop followers took to his comment section to share mixed reactions after he revealed that the track has gone gold. Some of them accused Mega of "cooking" gold plaques while others said they'll believe him when they see the actual plaque. Maybe AKA shared the news because Nota now works for RiSA.
According to SAHipHopMag, Nota was recently appointed as the deputy chairman of the Recording Industry of South Africa. Check out some of the comments from tweeps after AKA shared that his song has gone gold.
@BonganiOnkz said: "We want to see the certificate."
@LenkoeTaylor wrote: "He cooked this plaque. Check the date he said he released it."
