South African cricketer Kagiso Rabada has been awarded the Purple Cap from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 25-year-old plays for the Delhi Capitals and received the cap for the efforts in his team for the 2020 campaign.
The Purple Cap is awarded to the season's leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Rabada is at the top of the pack with 30 wickets taken. This is just three more wickets than Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians.
Rabada took the 30 wickets in a mere 17 matches, thus setting a record for Delhi Capitals in the process.
According to Sunday World, the Proteas fast bowler received a call to join the 24-man Proteas squad. This team will face England in one of three T20 matches later this month. While Hindustan Times reported that Rabada had an average of 18.26 and an economy rate of 8.34.

In other cricket news, Briefly.co.za reported that Cricket South Africa's member's council agreed to dissolve the entire board. The Cricket South Africa (CSA) board is reportedly on the brink of dissolving.
This comes after the resignation of CSA independent director Dheven Dharmalingam. It's alleged that the entire board would be following suit. The members council had a meeting reports say that they resolved to dissolve the entire CSA board.
It is still unclear if this order will extend to executive management. The members council contains 14 affiliate presidents including the president and vice-president of the CSA.
