- Rupert Grint, the actor who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise, has finally joined Instagram
- As if that was not enough to get Potter fans going, Grint's first post was of himself holding his new daughter
- The actor joked about getting to the social media party so late and introduced his already huge number of followers to baby girl Wednesday
Harry Potter fans around the world were ecstatic to hear that yet another Weasley has joined the party. Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has finally made himself an Instagram account.
As if that wasn't enough, an honorary Weasley was announced as Rupert introduced the millions of Potter fans to his and actress Georgia Groome's baby daughter, Wednesday G Grint. Wednesday's birth was announced by publicists back in May but this is the first shot that fans, and now followers, have seen of the little one.
Speaking of followers, Rupert's account amassed more than a million followers in its first few hours of being created. He's already passed the two million mark and with the popularity of the Potter franchise, is likely to gain even more by the weekend.
Rupert joins other Hogwarts alumni on the social media platform. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, and the Phelps twins, who characterised Fred and George Weasley, all have Instagram accounts. Tom Felton commented on the photo:
"Welcome Weasley, it’s about time. Love to Wednesday."
Of the three main characters in the franchise, both Emma and now Rupert have accounts on the picture-sharing platform, which leaves just Harry Potter himself. Actor Daniel Radcliffe remains the last to hold out on joining the world of social media.
In celebrity baby news that is closer to home, Briefly.co.za recently reported on when Pearl Modiadie shared a picture of her newborn to social media.
The struggles of being a parent to a newborn are well-documented and joked about. Sleeping, or the lack thereof, seems to be one of the biggest adjustments when caring for a baby. Pearl Modiadie treated her followers to a little snippet of how she manages her baby's bedtime when she posted a video to her Twitter account.
The radio host shared a quick clip of herself and her new son, Olivier Lewatle, being rocked to sleep. Pearl rests her baby's head on her chest so fans could just see the back of his head and his little dinosaur onesie.
Pearl Modiadie has been pretty private about all things concerning her baby since she gave birth to him about a month ago. However, recently the star has been treating fans to little insights into her journey as a mom.
