A recent report said that a key witness in the murder case of Senzo Meyiwa has died due to being poisoned. According to the report, Thabang Makeleni was poisoned late last year shortly after he made a deposition to new investigators that linked five suspects to the case.
In 2014 Makeleni was a student who lived in Vosloorus, Gauteng. His home was not too far from Kelly Khumalo's mother Ntombifuthi Khumalo's house. According to the report, Makeleni told the police that five people had shown up at Khumalo’s mother’s house on the night Meyiwa was murdered.
The report also said that Makeleni told the police who interviewed him that of the five people, only two had entered the premises. The other three were outside the property, one at the gate and two waiting in cars.
SundayWorld reported that National police spokesperson Vish Naidoo confirmed the death of the witness. They also reported that Makeleni died while visiting his girlfriend. This comes after News24 reported that five suspects were arrested in mid-October.
Briefly.co.za recently reported on Bafana Bafana players gathering for Meyiwa's tombstone unveiling. The team's official Twitter page recently took to the app to share pictures of the footballers who were all in attendance of Meyiwa's tombstone unveiling which took place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
"Bafana Bafana players arriving at Moses Mabhida Stadium for the tombstone unveiling of former Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa on Tuesday," they captioned the Twitter post.
They also shared pictures of the football players who were all dressed up in their Bafana Bafana tracksuits while wearing masks and looks of sadness on their faces while the touching ceremony took place. Take a look at some of the responses to the news below:
"Danny Jordan promised to build an Academy in KZN and name it after #Meyiwa. It's been years now, nothing has been done. Whenever it's October you come here with dis nonsense. @SAFA_net really needs to disbanded."
"There's no respect you give him while most of the player's and management are on their phone. Niyaphoxa period."
