Cops suspended over their alarming treatment of disabled man

- Two metro cops are being investigated after a video surfaced of them throwing a disabled man out of his wheelchair

- It is not known what sparked the confrontation but people were furious at the actions of the officers

Two metro police officers have disgraced their uniforms after being caught on camera abusing a disabled man.

The mayor of Cape Town, Dan Plato, has apologised for the behaviour of the officers. They were filmed throwing the helpless man out of his wheelchair during a confrontation.

Both officers have been suspended while an investigation is carried out by the City of Cape Town.

“Why are you doing this to this old man?” asks an unidentified man in the clip.

According to the Sowetan Live, before the video ends, a man walks towards the person filming the incident and says: “Get out, because you are recording at the police station ... otherwise we are going to arrest you. You better get out.”

Mayor Dan Plato took the matter up with Safety and Security Executive Director Richard Bosman as soon as he was made aware of the incident according to Cape Times.

“I want to apologise unreservedly to the member of the public, whose name is not yet known to me, for what he experienced this morning. The manner in which this situation was handled is not what we expect from our staff,” Plato said.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Economic Freedom Fighter Deputy President Floyd Shivambu has posted a clip to social media that has everyone's eyebrows raising.

In the video, a disabled man can be seen having an altercation with police officials over an unknown issue.

From the start of the clip, one policeman can be viewed with his boot on the man's wheel, preventing him from going anywhere.

In other news, ten -year-old Kevin from Nakuru has warmed the heart of many netizens after photos of him wheeling his mom to her shop surfaced online.

The little hero wheels his disabled mom every morning to a shop she runs before he heads to school.

He would later come back in the evening after classes to take her back home.
