AmaXhosa Queen-Mother Nozamile Sigcawu passed away at around 8pm on Sunday evening. Family spokesperson, Prince Zolile Burns Ncamashe, said the Queen-Mother was being rushed to Frere Hospital in the Eastern Cape when she died.
The Queen-Mother was the mother of the late King Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu. Ncamashe said further details regarding the Queen-Mother's passing will be publicly shared after customary protocols have been observed.
Although the details surrounding the Queen-Mother's death are currently scarce, many South Africans have made their way to social media to mourn her.
HeraldLive reported that AmaRharhabe King Jonguxolo Vululwandle Sandile has expressed both shock and dismay at the Queen-Mother's untimely passing, while SABC reported that the Queen-Mother was the widow of King Xolilizwe.
