President Donald Trump has questioned a report which stated that Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, garnered 80 million votes in the US election.
Trump in a tweet on Thursday, 26 November, argued that there was no way Biden got such a huge number of votes. He alleged that the report about Biden’s win was an indication that the US election was rigged.
Just saw the vote tabulations. There is NO WAY Biden got 80,000,000 votes!!! This was a 100% RIGGED ELECTION.
The president’s tweet was flagged by Twitter for reportedly containing information that is disputed.
Trump has repeatedly questioned the integrity of the US election which Biden was projected to have won. He has alleged that widespread voter fraud occurred during the poll but has been unable to prove his allegations in court.
In another news, some members of the Republican Party have continued to contest the result of the US presidential election which projected Democratic candidate, Joe Biden as the winner of the poll.
According to Bloomberg, a group of Pennsylvania Republicans filed an emergency lawsuit seeking to block certification of the election results in favour of Joe Biden in the state. The petition was filed in the state ahead of the Monday, 13 November deadline for Pennsylvania counties to certify their voting results.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za recently reported on a poll that shows that 98% of voters don't want Trump to concede defeat.
A recently-conducted poll by a US-based media house has shown that most participants don't want Trump to concede defeat. According to the poll by Newsmax, out of 192,774 people who voted, 98.9% (190,593) voted "no", meaning they don't want Trump to stand down and acknowledge he lost the election to Biden.
Those who said Trump should admit defeat made up a meagre 1.1%, which translated to 2,181 votes.
