- Kamo Mphela is trending once again after she was called a rapper by Nota Baloyi
- The musician is an acclaimed Amapiano vocalist and choreographer, but hardly a rapper
- Mzansi social media users weighed in on Nota's statements and shared their thoughts about Kamo Mphela
Kamo Mphela is many things, but rapper is not what we would have called her. The MTV Base SA Hottest MCs in 2020 list begged to differ though. Kamo Mphela was listed as a rapper by the controversial Nota Baloyi and Mzansi social media users couldn't help but express their disbelief.
Footage of a snippet from this year's #BaseHottestMCs countdown shows Kamo Mphela being called a rapper. Now we all know that Kamo is a great dancer and Amapiano vocalist, but sis has never been a rapper.
Nota, however, believes that Kamo is more influential than the new rappers such as Costa Titch. Speaking at a panel, Nota said:
"I don't think Costa Titch has had more impact than Kamo Mphela"
He went on to say that he believes Kamo is a rapper. The rest of the panel, however, were not in agreement. Social media users have since weighed in on the statement. Twitter user Sekzin_sa said:
"Kamo Mphela is a rapper?"
"If the likes of focalistic and sho madjozi can be considered rappers why not kamo"
"Guys, I'm on Google and I still can't figure out who Nota is. R30 airtime for the first person to tell me who he is and what he 'started'."
"NOTHING NEW HERE!!! This whole panel is stupid if you ask me....they prolly included Nasty C as well and we all know how ZMWSP went.... Foca should definitely be in the top 3.... but either way I stopped watching this stupid show when they didn't include A-Reece."
Meanwhile. Briefly.co.za previously reported that Kamo Mphela is doing the most when it comes to Amapiano. The stunner has been featured in a couple of banging songs this year such as Amanikiniki by MFR Souls and SBWL by Busiswa.
Even though the songs are on high rotation on radio and TV stations, many of Kamo's fans are still confused by her many faces.
The musician, who is also an influencer for big brands, recently trended on Twitter when peeps shared that they don't know what she looks. Confused tweeps shared hilarious memes about how Kamo chooses her many faces when she's going out to perform.
