- Letoya Makhene recently shared a video of herself singing and dancing 'umgido'
- The media personality drew from her roots as a sangoma and performed the traditional dance of healers
- Mzansi social media users were impressed by both her skills as a singer and dancer
Letoya Makhene was a whole mood when she performed her song Ngihawukele recently. The singer and actress tapped into her sangoma roots during the performance and left social media users wanting more.
Makhene posted a video of the vibrant performance on her Isntagram account. In the footage, the traditional healer could be seen doing dancing 'umgido' while her father, Blondie, beat the drums.
She made it clear that although she has a long list of talents on her CV, music is always going to be her first love. She captioned the video:
"#Ngihawukele #ThongoLami #Uhadi #Music #FirstLove"
Social media users absolutely loved the display and made their feelings known. Instagram user victoria.mnisi said:
"My morning jam."
"Father and daughter, beautiful."
"Thokoza undigidela kamnandi gogo."
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that Letoya Makhene's relationship grabbed headlines earlier this month when it was revealed she's found love in the arms of another woman. The actress, singer and sangoma is dating businesswoman Lebo Keswa. Letoya told Sunday World:
“My biggest fear was telling my dad and my children that mommy is in love with a woman. I was afraid of hurting them."
However, the star had nothing to worry about as her dad, veteran singer Blondie Makhene, has given his blessing. Letoya took to Instagram to thank her father for his understanding. She posted a picture of her, Blondie and Lebo in a three-way hug.
The star wrote:
“You know how much I've dealt with in my journey through life, daddy. How many times I've been told to repent and forsake my ancestors — for hell surely awaits me.
"Now — as we predicted — the same people are telling me once again that hell awaits me because I've finally found everything that I've ever prayed for in a lifelong partner. Thank you daddy for the blessing you gave us. Yours and God's is the only blessing that matters."
