- Simmi and Peter got married on Valentine's Day
- This year's occasion marks their 25th wedding anniversary
- They said their secret to long marriage is being spontaneous
A couple from Phoenix, Durban, is having a super-special Valentine's Day this year because it marks their 25th wedding anniversary.
Briefly.co.za learned that Simmi and Peter Ramnarain got married on 14 February, 1993. Speaking to IOL, Simmi described how they met:
The instructor came to me and said they were putting all their customer’s details onto the computer and he needed my details. That’s how my husband first contacted me.
Asked if they have planned anything special for their silver anniversary, Simmi said they are spontaneous:
We’re quite spontaneous, so I’m really not sure. We always spoil each other on Valentine’s Day. And we celebrate every occasion. We always give each other beautiful cards. And I will bake my husband a cake.
Incidentally, Simmi was among the top three finalists of the KZN Great South African Bake Off. Peter also owns Base Power, a car audio company.
The couple's two children, 24-year-old Samir and 20-year-old Kirti, will be with them during their special day.
Simmi said she plans to open a baking school so she can transfer her skills to young aspiring chefs. As to their secret to long marriage, she said:
That’s being spontaneous again.
