Former Banyana Banyana player, Makhosi Luthuli, has been battling lymphatic cancer, and recently she received much needed financial help.
The 45-year-old has been struggling to breathe after a cancerous tumour developed on her face.
Briefly.co.za gathered on Saturday Luthuli was given a cheque for R100 000, which would lift the burden of some of her medical expenses and transport costs.
“She came to my office for help. I am so happy that she will be able to see the necessary specialists and get help. I am thankful for what Sandile has done,” said Mayor Gumede.
According to Gumede, a resident doctor in Johannesburg also promised to support the former football player, as well as regularly assess her medical condition to find out what could be done to help her.
