The High Court in Gauteng has found Dumisani Mkhwanazi guilty of the murder of University of Johannesburg student, Palesa Madiba. She was murdered on 12 August, 2013 after she went missing off the back of a sleepover with one of her close friends in Soweto.

Her friend, Tshidi Mkhwanazi, is the niece of Dumisani. Madiba's body was found in the yard of Tshidi's home in December 2015. This was after a neighbour noticed a protruding arm coming out of a shallow grave.

Mkhwanazi was on trial for the murder of Madiba. He was also facing charges of defeating the ends of justice, robbery, the unlawful possession of a firearm and he pled not guilty to the charges.

The explosion was reportedly heard miles away from the site in Merebank, south of Durban. Information regarding the cause of the explosion has not yet been made available. The explosion reportedly occurred just after 7am.

Witness reports of the incident involve many claiming that their houses were shaking as if it were an earthquake. The situation is ongoing.
