Jana Hocking, a radio producer from Sydney, Australia, argued she's turned off when a guy asks her to settle her part of the share, Daily Mail reported.

"So let us end this debate once and for all and just say, blokes pay for the first date. It is hot, it is manly, and will have us bragging to our friends,' the 36-year-old opined.

She based her argument on Helen Fisher, a senior research fellow at the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University in the United States of America, who said: 'Women want to know if a man will spend his resources on her.

Hocking said she would accept to split the bill on the second date if the man expressed interest on meeting her again.

"I have been on dates when I' have known fairly early that the guy wasn't for me and absolutely insisted on paying half, because I could not live with the guilt of walking away knowing he had just splurged on a big bill for nothing," she added.
