Riky Rick trended on social media on Monday evening, 7 December. Mzansi debated whether the rapper's verse on Big Zulu's new hit titled Imali Eningi was "necessary".
Some Twitter users believe that Riky's verse on the track was necessary while others have shared that the song would have been big without the Boss Zonke hitmaker's verse.
Big Zulu took to Instagram on Sunday, 6 December to announce that the track's music video has reached 1 million views on YouTube in just a week. The track is currently one of the hottest songs in Mzansi. It is also on high rotation on radio across Mzansi and it is doing well on music streaming platforms.
Tweep @SciTheComedist started the whole debate about the track on Twitter. He shared that Riky was "unnecessary" on the Imali Eningi track.
Tweeps took to his comment section to share mixed reactions to his post. Check out some of the comments below:
"Which song was Riky Rick ever necessary in? I'll wait."
"Riky Rick is like J Cole... he's one of the only OG's in SA who's trying bridge the gap between the old and young generation of hip hop artists in this country. He wasn't NECESSARY. He wasn't even ESSENTIAL... He was VITAL!"
"I think Zakwe would have been the best candidate than Riky Rick."
"He's only always running after whoever is hot at a given moment... opportunist that one."
"Ask yourself why Makhado has been relevant so long without an album?? That's because he kills every feature he hops on. Put respect oh his name."
"Thank you I have been saying it all along. That song flows so perfect with Big Zulu. That mini American was really unnecessary."
"That song is incomplete without Riky. You gotta be street wise to understand that!!!! Y’all too disrespectful.....but anyways I don’t blame you...you’re just too normal."
