Musa E Zulu shared his inspiring story to the #ImStaying group on Facebook recently. Musa will be celebrating his 49th birthday tomorrow, 10 December and has spent 25 years of his life in a wheelchair.
Musa was left paralysed from his waist down at the age of 23 due to a horrific car accident but has not allowed his disability to rule his life. Musa said he feels blessed to be able to continue living after the car accident.
Musa spoke about being inspired by role models who have disabilities of their own. He spoke specifically of late US singer, Teddy Pendergrass.
Musa concluded his post by saying:
"One of those was Teddy Pendergrass who impressed upon me right from the beginning that in order to vibe with my times, I should never just sit in the wheelchair... but occupy it.
"This was the greatest lesson of rebirth this great man gifted me - to always own my space! I will dedicate my entire day to his timeless music tomorrow."
