Frustrated South Africans get #VoetsekANC and #VoetsekEFF trending

- South African Twitter users woke up to both #VoetsekANC and #VoetsekEFF trending on the app

- Usually, one or the other trends but it seems as though many South Africa are voicing their opinions through #VoetsekANC and #VoetsekEFF

- From voting to Covid-19 statistics, tweeps are openly expressing their feelings under #VoetsekANC and #VoetsekEFF

Fridays may be rather exciting for most as the day marks the end of the work week but it's also the day where most South Africans voice their opinions about politics online. Generally, either #VoetsekANC or #VoetsekEFF trends.

However, today they're trending together. Twitter is known for being an app where people share their thoughts in a more open manner than they would on other social networking sites. That's exactly what's happening through these two hashtags.

Previously Briefly.co.za reported that #VoetsekANC was trending. Saffas shared articles, stories and information pertaining to a number of ongoing ANC scandals using the hashtag. A lot of them also shared memes and gifs to describe the extent of their unhappiness with the African National Congress.

While #VoetsekEFF also made headlines as Saffas expressed their concerns about the party. Many Saffa tweeps spoke about the EFF's lack of awareness on subjects such as GBV and human trafficking.

Other tweeps believe that the EFF is concerning themselves more with issues relating to foreign nationals in SA. EFF's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi took to Twitter to speak about the borders in SA. He said:

"Why take our attention to the border and away from our oppressors? The border didn't oppress us, whites did, today with ANC's permission."
