13 world leaders salaries revealed from Trump to Putin

How much other people get paid is always something that peaks people's curiosity. What world leaders earn is often even more interesting and easier to find out.

The salaries of the world's leaders vary greatly from between $1 (R11,68) to $2-million. (R23-million).

Briefly.co.za put together this list with the help of brightside.me of 13 leaders and their salaries.

13. Donald Trump

$1 a year

Trump refused to accept the $400 000 annual salary but has to earn something by law which is why he gets $1. He is worth $3-billion so his salary would just have been pocket money to him anyway.

The minimum salary in the US is $1,160.

12. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine

$12,220 a year

The Ukrainian president earns over 7.5 times the country's minimum wage of $133. Poroshenko is the sixth richest man in Ukraine and is worth $1.3-billion.

11.Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China

$20,500 a year

Xi Jinping salary is huge compared to the monthly minimum which varies between $150—$300. His net worth is estimated at $376-million.

10. Sauli Niinistö, President of Finland

$146,700 a year

Finland is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and it is therefore not surprising that its president earns such a high salary. The minimum salary in Finland is $2000 a month.

9. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia

$151,000 a year

The reclusive leader of Russia earns a massive salary that dwarfs the minimum salary of $140.

8. Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

$198,500 a year

The embattled leader of England earns a tidy annual salary. The minimum salary in the UK is $1,569. She probably spends most of it on shoes of which she has an enormous collection.

7. Emmanuel Macron, President of France

$211,500 a year

France's youngest leader is taking home a nice package every year. The minimum salary in France is $1,758.

6. Jimmy Morales, President of Guatemala

$232,000 a year

The former comedian and actor is the highest paid leader in Latin America. He earns far more than the average citizen which is $200. He has a good heart and donated 60% of his salary to charity and fulfilled one of his election promises at the same time.

5. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany

$263,000 a year

The iron lady of Germany earns a decent salary. The minimum monthly wage in Germany is $1,780.

4. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada

$267,000 a year

The young prime minister has made a few mistakes as leader of Canada, one of those was allowing for one of his wealthy friends to sponsor a holiday which caused a public outcry.

The minimum monthly salary in Canada is $1,400.

3. Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia

$403,700 a year

He might earn danger-pay for being the president of a country where everything wants to kill you. The wealthy banker and businessman enjoy a huge salary. The minimum monthly wage in Australia is $1,900.

2. Doris Leuthard, President of the Swiss Confederation

$437,000 a year

It pays to be neutral. The leader of Switzerland earns a massive salary. There is no minimum salary in Switzerland outside of Canton of Neuchâtel which is $20 per hour.

1. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore

$2.2 million a year

Lee is the highest paid world leader and inherited the position from his father who was responsible for Singapore's success today. He thinks his salary is fair.

The minimum salary in Singapore is not limited but is estimated to be about $1,000.
