AKA has taken to social media to announce that he is in the process of obtaining ownership of all his music masters. The Fela In Versace has dropped so many great albums over the years but he doesn't own his masters.
Supa Mega took to Twitter on Thursday, 15 December to reveal that he now wants to get back ownership of his music masters so that he can licence third parties on his own and get all the money to his music. The rapper wrote:
"MOST IMPORTANTLY, I announce that I am currently in the process of obtaining OWNERSHIP of ALL of my MASTERS. Thank You EVERYONE. MEGACY OVER EVERYTHING."
According to mixbutton.com, a master recording is the official original recording of a song, sound or performance. It is the source from which all the later copies are made. With the masters, the owner could unilaterally licence third parties to use it for TV, film, commercial adverts or even for sampling in other songs by other artists.
Mega's fans took to his comment section to applaud him for his decision. Check out some of their comments below:
"Ownership is more important than the units sold, great move my guy. Assuming the music is timeless of course."
"Didn't you already own them??? I'm disappointed."
"You've done the most this year, fam. RESPECT!"
"Megacy over everything, in Mega we trust until the finish."
In related news, Briefly.co.za recently reported that AKA has taken to social media to share that Sjava will be the next guest on his new TV show. The rapper shared that he will interview the Umama hitmaker on his SABC 1 show this coming Thursday.
Supa Mega will get to sit down with the musician and chat to him about the recent developments in his life while they enjoy braaied meat and drinks. AKA took to Instagram and shared a snap of the two of them. He captioned his post:
"BIG episode coming at you this week on #TheBraaiShowWithAKA on @mzansi_fosho @sjava_atm."
The Fela In Versace's show has reached over two million viewers since it made its debut a few weeks ago. The star also thanked his supporters for putting The Braai Show in the Top 10 local shows on TV.
