- FIFA The Best has been awarded to Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer
- The 2014 World Cup winner beat Alisson Becker and Jan Oblak to the prestigious prize
- Neuer helped the Bavarians win a treble last season and added the German Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup to their feathers in 2020
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been crowned FIFA The Best goalkeeper for the outgoing year.
The Germany international beat Liverpool's Alisson Becker and Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid to the prestigious prize.
Neuer helped the Bavarians win a treble last campaign and also won the UEFA Super Cup and the German Super Cup at the start of the new season.
Alisson helped Liverpool win the Premier League title last season - their first-ever triumph in the league in about 30 years.
He was also instrumental to the Reds winning the Champions League glory in the 2018/19 campaign after beating Tottenham in the final.
Jan Oblak didn't lift any trophy in the year under review, he however featured in all 38 league games for Atletico Madrid.
Diego Simeone's men finished third on the log but the highlight of his season was the fact that he became the fastest goalkeeper to reach 100 clean sheets in the Spanish top flight.
The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper:
- Alisson Becker (Brazil / Liverpool FC)
- Manuel Neuer (Germany / FC Bayern München)
- Jan Oblak (Slovenia / Atlético de Madrid)
Others are Thibaut Courtois, Keylor Navas and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, has proven to be more important to Zinedine Zidane's second spell than Cristiano Ronaldo for the French manager during his first time in charge.
The 35-year-old rose to become Los Blancos highest goals scorers with 450 goals in 438 appearances across multiple competitions.
He also inspired the Galacticos to four Champions League triumphs during his nine-year reign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, recent stats have now shown that Benzema has been more effective for the 48-year-old since his return in 2019.
Karim Benzema has shown once again that his love for expensive cars knows no bound after acquiring a Bugatti Chiron worth €2.5 million. Cristiano Ronaldo purchased the same type of car about three years ago.
At the time when Ronaldo bought this car, the Portuguese star was still playing for Real Madrid which means Karim Benzema has been eyeing the ride since then.
