- A single dad walked 18km to work every day, was never sick and never missed a shift
- He did this to provide for his 14-month-old daughter
- His pride had not allowed him to ask for help but his co-workers came to his aid
Parents often go to extreme lengths to provide for their families. A single dad, Trenton Lewis, 21, is the only provider for his 14-month-old daughter.
Every day he walks 9 km's to work and back each day but he doesn't mind because he does it to take care of his little girl. Lewis works at a UPS facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.
Briefly.co.za Lewis is a proud man and refuses to ask for help, believing that it is his responsibility to provide for his family according to iol.co.za.
He walked 18km a day for seven months and only recently did his co-workers discover the amazing lengths this loving dad would go to.
Kenneth Bryant, a UPS clerk and one of Lewis' co-workers revealed that he was prepared to help Lewis due to the amazing determination he showed.
Bryant began to collect donations around the office to try and raise enough money to buy the courageous single dad a car.
“[The donations] caught on like wildfire,” Bryant said. When they had enough money they bought Lewis a car. They called him outside, telling him that they were attending a union meeting, and when he saw the car his jaw dropped.
