Today marks another Friday of #VoetsekANC Friday's. The hashtag caught on a while back as South Africans began using the hashtag every Friday to express their discontent at the country's current ruling party, the ANC.
Like clockwork, every Friday Mzansians flock to the micro-blogging app to list all the things that they find wrong about the ANC. This Friday, South African Police Minister, Bheki Cele has joined the list.
#VoetsekBhekiCele is now trending alongside #VoetsekANC as South Africans express disdain for Cele who has recently taken to inspecting SA beaches in order to keep citizens from breaking the lockdown rules that were recently set into place by President Cyril Ramaphosa following a second wave in Covid-19 cases in certain parts of the country.
Read a few of their tweets below.
"So how many rapists murders and thieves did they arrest this morning?? #voetsekANC #fuckoffANC #VoetsekBhekiCele."
"Bheki Cele himself doesn't care that police didn't get their salary increase so yal together with him can voetsek #VoetsekBhekiCele. Happy Festive to our Police, please get some rest and enjoy your Christmas..you've been chasing these criminals called South Africans since lockdown."
"He's busy going to the nice quiet places where he can enjoy the beach to himself and obviously not have to do any actual work...when has he ever been known to fulfill any of his responsibilities and duties? Busy touring SA at our cost ofcos. #VoetsekBhekiCele#VoetsekANC."
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that the DA's Ivan Meyer has taken to Twitter to share a spicy response to the ANC and Bheki Cele's decision to inspect Western Cape beaches following the second wave of Covid-19 that has hit South Africa.
Meyer is clearly not impressed with the decision and decided to air his thoughts online. In the tweet he says that the Western Cape will not be bullied by the ANC and Bheki Cele who Meyer referred to as a cowboy acting like a sherrif.
"Police Minister Bheki Cele will soon find out that the Western Cape can't be bullied by a failed state and a cowboy acting like the local sheriff. Sorry we are NOT a Banana Republic. The rule of law applies in the Western Cape. Get use to it mampara. @Our_DA," he wrote in the tweet.
