- Days after the SABC’s Peter Ndoro ‘killed off’ President Cyril Ramaphosa another SABC presenter referred to President Jacob Ramaphosa
- The Venda newsreader was talking about Nkandla when he spoke about Jacob Zuma as being Jacob Ramaphosa
- The presenter has become an overnight internet sensation as social media users comment on the gaffe
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) must be wondering what their newsreaders are having for breakfast. Just days after SABC legend Peter Ndoro made headlines for killing off Cyril Ramaphosa, another newsreader has reported about President Jacob Ramaphosa.
The Venda newsreader was reporting about Nkandla on Monday when he mistakenly referred to former president Jacob Zuma as President Jacob Ramaphosa.
"After the resignation of President Jacob Ramaphosa, the residence of Nkandla were saddened," he said.
Briefly.co.za discovered that the newsreader has become an overnight internet sensation thanks to his gaffe. South Africa’s active and rather creative social media users quickly put up hilarious memes and comments about the slip of the tongue.
Meanwhile, the SABC has granted Ndoro’s request for leave, this after Ndoro mistakenly said Cyril Ramaphosa had died. He was reporting Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s death at the time.
Ndoro has apologised for the slip-up and attributed his mistake to fatigue. Ndoro is an SABC and indeed a South African legend, he has received overwhelming support from colleagues and the South African public.
