Orlando Pirate's Josef Zinnbauer has spoken about his first-ever experience in the CAF inter-club football match. The team had been playing against Angola's Segrada Esperanca in Angola on Monday this week.

While the South African team managed to secure a 1-0 victory against Segrada thanks to a last-minute goal scored by Thembinkosi Lorch, coach Zinnbaur said that it had not been easy for them as they faced difficult conditions both on and off the Angolan field.

According to Zinnbaur, the pitch was terribly difficult and that was not all. The team also had to deal with scorching Angolan heat while trying to stay cool ahead of a match with the southwestern African team.

“It was a tough game for us, the weather was very hot and the field was not so good – there was long grass and bouncy field, a little bit difficult for to play the ball,” Zinnbauer told the Orlando Pirates media team, according to a KickOff article.

Zinnbauer also added a heartfelt thank you to Thembinkosi Lorch who scored the goal that helped the team start their CAF inter-club games on a good note.

Briefly.co.za also reported that South African team Orlando Pirates were feeling good ahead of their clash with Angolan side Sagrada Esperança in Luanda.

Coach Josef Zinnbauer said that the teams if focused 100% on the game and would not let distractions, such as Christmas get in the way.

Jokingly, he said that despite it being Christmas they would not be giving the opponents any gifts.

The Buccaneers are the only team to have won all their encounters and the memories of winning the MTN8 still fresh in the player's minds, they are looking forwards to the upcoming match.
